According to Sky Sources, Spanish giants Real Madrid want to sign Chelsea and Belgian forward Eden Hazard, however talks between the two clubs have not taken place as of yet. Though, those of the Real Madrid hierarchy are very keen on adding another galactico signing to their group of star studded players.
It seems as though the interest in Hazard does derive from the fact that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez does think Eden Hazard perfectly fits the bill as Real Madrid’s next galactico. Hazard is not to be the first and the last of Real Madrid’s planned overhaul in the summer window, it is believed around reports in Spain that Manchester United’s David De Gea and Chelsea’s Thibaut Cortouis are on Madrid’s radar in their search for a new goalkeeper.
The interest in Eden Hazard will not have come at a good time for Antonio Conte and his Chelsea men as they draw closer to reclaiming their Premier League crown from Leicester City. As such, Chelsea have refused to comment on the various reports published in the Spanish Newspapers. Though, Conte has stated in previous press conferences that Eden Hazard is happy at the club.

The 26-year-old is on course to win his second PFA Footballer of the Year award in three seasons after an excellent campaign for the Premier League leaders. After a poor campaign last season as Chelsea failed to defend their Premier League crown, the Belgian superstar has been integral cog in Conte’s Chelsea machine with an impressive 13 league goals and weighing in with 5 assists so far. Hazard recently signed a 5-year deal back in February 2015 which means he remains contracted the West London club.
Whether the Hazard deal comes to fruition or not, what is certain is that Real Madrid face a crucial stage on the pitch but attention is already turning to the transfer window. It’s shaping up to be a busy summer window for Zinedine Zidane and the Madrid hierarchy as they search for even more supremacy in their star-studded squad, but who’s on the wanted list? As always, there are some real hitters.
Madrid are interested in either one of Thibaut Cortouis and David De Gea and they are keeping close tabs on Monaco’s teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe, Paulo Dybala of Juventus, and of course Eden Hazard.
Sky Sports’ pundit Davie Provan, speaking on Premier League Daily, believes the Spanish club will be acquiring a player of the highest calibre who is coming into his prime if Madrid were able to pull of the deal.
“There is an attraction about Real Madrid that very few other clubs have. If Hazard wanted to Real Madrid, I think Chelsea – even Chelsea – would be under enormous pressure to do some kind of deal.
Provan correctly added:
“At 26 years of age, he’s just about come into his very best years of his career. Whoever gets him – and hopefully he’ll stay at Chelsea – they’d be getting one of the world’s best players, who is probably going to get better over the next two or three years.”

Pundit Davie Provan could not be more accurate in his assessment of Eden Hazard. Certainly, he is one of the best players in World football, and at a time where he is reaching the peak of his powers, could frighteningly become an even better player. One question Hazard could be asking himself as the rumours from Real Madrid kicks in, is would a move to the Santiago Bernabeu provide him with the opportunity to reach the next level or will stick to his guns and continue to shine in the Premier League?
The Belgian has been the inspiration behind Chelsea’s title charge under Antonio Conte. He has returned to his brilliant best after a difficult campaign last year. Madrid are not short of attacking talent, but this is how the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez works, this is his business model – to buy the best players and hope the coach finds a solution for them to gel together.

Hazard’s numbers do not match to either of Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo’s. Real Madrid’s front three have contributed more goals and assists since the 2013/14 season. But don’t be surprised if Zinedine Zidane is already carrying out plans to accommodate Eden Hazard, but if that was the case, who would have to sacrifice their place for the Belgian?
The potential move of the Belgian superstar could have serious implications for Real Madrid three attackers. Could Benzema be the one to lose his place with Ronaldo being the lone no.9 and Hazard starting on the left? What is for definite, is that Zidane has a difficult conundrum on his hands to keep his Galacticos happy.
The departure of Hazard would be heartbreaking for Chelsea, as there is hardly any footballer in the world who share the same characteristics and abilities as the Belgian winger. Just how would Antonio Conte replace such a talent? It is why Chelsea must do everything in their power to keep hold of their man. Various reports have suggested that Chelsea could offer the Belgian a whopping new contract deal to remain at Stamford Bridge. However, the prospect of joining such a huge club in the form of Real Madrid just maybe to great to comprehend.
The idea from Madrid though, is for Ronaldo to be the main focal point up front which would allow the Belgian to come off his favoured left flank or even in the No.10 position which could also fit Benzema, as the French strikers loves to roam around and link up play which is playing to his strengths, so Madrid are confident they could keep their forwards happy. However, it does come at a cost, and it would mean Zidane diverting away from his favoured 4-3-3 set-up, a formation is that express a luxury in midfield, a defensive solidarity for their back-line.

Hazard’s arrival could spell the end for talented midfielders such as Isco and James Rodriguez and striker Alvaro Morata who are simply too good to be languishing on the sidelines and with Hazard in the side, their opportunities would be even more limited next season.
Nevertheless, while Hazard is not as prolific as Madrid’s superstars, he would add a new dimension to their attack.

One of Hazard’s best attributes is undoubtedly his dribbling ability, his low sense of gravity, the swift turns and changes of direction to smoothly and unerringly beat a defender is a joy to behold and certainly the great ex Madrid player and coach Zinedine Zidane would be proud of. Hazard has made five times as many dribbles as Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo. In fact his total of almost 130 take ons is the highest in the Premier League and second only to Barcelona’s Neymar.
Hazard’s ability to beat a man frequently makes the difference for Chelsea. Take his brilliant solo goal against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge for example, easily bypassing Francis Coquelin and Laurent Koscielny on his way to finishing past Petr Cech. It is easy to imagine him doing the same in the colours of Real Madrid – a side that is hell-bent on counter-attacking football. Hazard would thrive on the sort of space offered to him in abundance in La Liga.

The dribbling is just the start. Hazard is also known as a talented soloist with clinical finishing skills, but his ability as a provider can be sometimes overlooked.
This season he has created almost 60 scoring opportunities, double the amount Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo have managed. Even if you consider that he has made more appearances, his average of 2.3 chances created per 90 minutes is still far higher than any of Real Madrid’s current forwards.
Hazard ticks all of the boxes for Real Madrid. His two goal performance against Manchester City in a 2-1 victory bringing Chelsea ever so closer to the Premier League title, he is certainly making the difference in Conte’s renaissance at Stamford Bridge. However, if Hazard does move to Real Madrid, there will be some ramifications that would come about as a result. How will Chelsea replace such a magnificent performer, a man that can win a match on his own? Considering Conte’s unimpressive record in the Champions League – a competition Hazard will surely be licking his lips at – he has a tough decision to make this summer, does he move to Madrid where he will have better chance at winning the competition, after all he’s won as much as he can at Chelsea. It’s going to be two Premier League titles to his name assuming Chelsea do not endure a miraculous slip-up in their pursuit of the big prize.
How about the prospect of being a superstar at probably the biggest club in World Football? Hazard has a key career decision to make this summer.
